Learn Arabic
When Arabic is addressed as a second
language, most educators assume that Arabic is not easy to learn. They go on
enumerating the difficult aspects of the language. This may be true
only if the wrong methodology is employed. However, it can be proven wrong when the right approach
is put to use.
The advent of multimedia and the
internet has helped a great deal to make all those assumptions futile, or at least not based. Multimedia; if
implemented with the right approach, can yield excellent
results and make life easier to Arabic learners. One of
those approaches is making the learning process an
entertaining experience, especially when it comes to young
learners. Learning by play is one such approach adopted in
our products. Edutainment (Educational Entertainment) is a
term that has risen many years ago but hardly adopted by
educational software, especially when it comes to Arabic
software. One can find many products in the market that
claim to have employed multimedia in their software but you
hardly can differentiate between such a product and a static
paper book.
We have employed multimedia
elements in Letter Garden and in Alefon Ba'on programs. The
first has employed Flash animation and programming. It is
scalable as it is based on vector graphics, yielding
astonishing graphics and image crispness whatever the
screen resolution might be, and it is online; meaning that
it will be enjoyed on the internet. No CD is available.
Alefon Ba'on, on the other hand, although having crisp and
excellent graphics, is a classic bitmap employing
older technology. It has most of the multimedia features
employed in Letter Garden, but lacks the interactivity that
Flash can offer. In the near future, all the educational
features present in Alefon Ba'on will be transferred to
Letter Garden.
